Before the rush..

Yes it has been a very long time since I’ve sat here to write. My focus has been on a project two years in the making, and yesterday I mailed my certification package away. I hope to hear news in a few months. But as I worked on that,  life still went along. Kids in school, laundry, snow outside, playdates and visits with friends, family, sports and all of the things that fill our day. So much to share, but so little time in the day. Inspiration came to me today as I felt I wanted to write this:

Before the Rush.

I sit here now and all is quiet

but I know well enough it won’t last.

The day will begin be it warm or cold

and my little ones will wake with adventure to behold.

What will be in store for them today?

What will come for me today?

I think of all the things we need to do

I wonder what mischief and joys we’ll get into.

How many toys and dishes will I clean up,

How many loads of clothes,

but more importantly

How many hugs and kisses and tickle of toes?

My mind wanders off to a place up ahead

To the future of life for my children.

Where my grand-kids run and play

and listen eagerly to hear what I have to say.

Our world is forever changing,

Life brings us challenges

I hope that my kids can learn and grow

as their experiences teach them all they need to know.

Lessons can come in profound moments

taking your breath away,

or they can be simple and kind

reminding you the joys in life you can find.

Before the rush of the day begins

I take a moment to quietly listen

What is my heart saying to me?

That today is a blessing, if only I’ll just let it be.

2014 Focus

It’s time to Focus…

The New Year has arrived and it has a way of making you take stock of your life and looking to the future. Goal, Plans, ideas all come flooding in as you anticipate the coming year. Well January has flown by and I’ve definitely be thinking about what 2014 will bring and looking back with fondness on 2013.

But why do I feel so unorganized and bored…. I’ll blame the snow…. but really there’s a big deadline hanging over my head and I want to get it done. This February will be two years since I took my Doula course and I really want to focus on getting my certification completed. I want to be able to fulfill that role in a more professional way. I now have everything I need to put together my essay and resource list, so all that’s need now is time. And January is going by so fast, yet so slow thanks to the weather. Lol.

I am generally not a big believer in New Years Resolutions per say as they mostly end up being too cliche and by March you’ve forgotten all about your resolution to eat more veggies, or read a book every night, or loose 40lbs.. you get the picture. Sometimes just a few goals or a simple goal will help us feel more satisfied because we can set so many goals that we don’t know what to focus on at all. But this year I do want to make some New Years Resolutions.  To help me A: Reach a goal and feel fulfilled. and B: Help focus my bored winter energy.

So in 2014 I will:

1. Complete my DONA Birth Doula Certification

2. Take the HypnoDoula Course

3. Change my Sentsy scents at the beginning of every month ( I have enough scents to last a lifetime, time to use them up)

4. All that other stuff, like be a better mom, cook more crockpot meals, loose 20lbs, read more, exercise more etc. etc etc….

😉

And just so you know I am well on my way to Resolution number 1….. and 3 😉                                                                                          I am busy compiling my resource list, trying to do one Category every day. It’s nice cause it’s given me something else to focus on besides laundry.  Lol

So here’s to 2014…. What is your focus going to be?
